Meera Angelica Joshi is a 2025 SFFILM FilmHouse Resident and winner of the Tasveer x Netflix Film Fund with her latest short film "The Sale" inspired by her mother’s adventures as an encyclopedia saleswoman in the 90s. She is currently developing her first feature film “Ancestor” with the support of the SFFILM Rainin Grant, based on the true ghost story that haunted her family.
Meera was born and raised in the Antipodes and moved to the US to study Film and Television at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Investigating the personal stories of her family and community through humor and heart have been a huge source of inspiration for Meera. Her work has aired on Australian TV, been featured in the New York Times and screened at festivals worldwide.
